Recognized by the scientists at CAM and the auditing and consulting company PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), innovations in the electric Porsche include its high recuperative power of up to 265 kW and best cd value in the segment (from 0.22), its 800-volt architecture, and finally its two-speed transmission on the rear axle.
CAM, or the Center of Automotive Management, is located at the University of Applied Sciences (FJDW) in Bergisch Gladbach for independent research towards strategic consulting and empirical automotive and mobility. Since 2005, CAM has been analyzing the innovations of global automotive manufacturers under Centre Director Professor Stefan Bratzel. Roughly 250 production vehicles were evaluated for the years 2019 and 2020.
The celebration through the Digital Automotive Talk held on July 14, 2020 via a digital live format was hosted by Markus Lanz, from German television broadcaster ZDF. Lanz discussed the subject of “Upheaval and transformation in the automotive industry - innovations as the key to successfully overcoming the crisis.”
Oliver Blume, the Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG shares his delight in the first all-electric sports car, that has so quickly “achieved a place on the top step of the podium in the AutomativeINNOVATIONS awards.”
“We have developed a new car with a new team and have built a completely new carbon-neutral factory,” says Blume. “Both order book and customer feedback are very positive.”
The Most Innovative Model award is one of a long series of accomplishments, considering the fact that the Porsche Taycan as already won 40 international awards. The electric sports car has been previously voted for the German Car of the Year (GCOTY), the China Green Car of the Year: Chinese Car of the Year (CCOTY), the Game Changer of the Year: BBC TopGear Magazine (UK), Car of the Year: BBC TopGear Magazine (UK), and World Car of the YEar 2020 in both World Performance Car and World Luxury Car categories: World Car of the Year (WCOTY).
