What better way to honor a unique, irreplaceable legend in race car driving but with the creation of a special commemorative car in the world.

Get To Know the Great Pedro Rodriguez

Pedro Rodriguez made a mark as the most successful Mexican racing driver of all time. During his illustrious career, he walked away with a victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, two Formula One Grand Prix triumphs, four wins in the 24 Hours of Daytona, and 11 titles in the World Championship of Makes (now known as the World Endurance Championship), helping Porsche earn two manufacturer’s titles in the process. Of his 11 wins, eight were in the Porsche 917 KH with the distinctive Gulf Oil Livery.

On July 11,1971, Rodriguez lost his life in a crash while racing at the Norisring street circuit in Nuremberg, Germany. Fifty years after, Porsche commissioned an exclusive tribute to honor him. The Porsche 911 Turbo S "One of a Kind" Pedro Rodriguez was recently unveiled during a Sportscar Together Day in Toluca, Mexico.

‘One of a Kind’ Details and Design

The Pedro Rodriguez legacy continues as the greatest Mexican driver who has given Porsche some of the greatest triumphs and joy. As a tribute to a one-off racer himself, the "One of a Kind" has unique elements with details and design that no other car in the world c have—a car that celebrates an idol of the past and a legend of today.

Director of Porsche Mexico Camilo San Martin stated, “This configuration, with these specific equipment and details, has been locked in the Porsche configurator, as well as in the production system, so that this car is literally unrepeatable.”

Porsche Latin America and Porsche Mexico, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur worked extensively with Pedro Rodriguez’s family and the Porsche Museum to ensure that it is a fitting tribute.

Inspired by the 911 Turbo S, the one-off is painted in iconic Gulf blue with an orange stripe running across it. A black number two in a white circle is featured on the aluminum center lock and the doors, and the specially designed wheels are in high-gloss black.

More unique features include a plaque located on the B-pillar sports the silhouette of the 917 KH with colors of the Mexican flag, and the name and signature of Rodriguez. Similar details are in the carbon moldings on the lower door frames that light up when opened. Names of the eight races won by Rodriguez in the 917 KH are also etched under the rear spoiler.

Inside, the 911 is fully furnished in graphite blue leather contrasting with orange stitching. On the front headrests, the 917 silhouette is reflected. The racer’s signature has also been incorporated in the carbon fiber on the dashboard and on the center armrest.

The personalization goes further with the accompanying key that is painted in Gulf blue and has the signature of the two-time world endurance champion. A bespoke luggage set in graphite blue and orange stitching is also included.

Later this year, the Porsche 911 Turbo S "One of a Kind" Pedro Rodriguez will be auctioned off for charity.
