The 70th anniversary of the iconic 356 America Roadster came in a grand red, white, and blue statement, through the unveiling of the newest 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America edition during the 2022 Porsche Parade in Poconos, Pennsylvania.

Its arrival is a continuation of a tradition that began in 1952—offering an enthusiast-focused, open top sports car that is exclusive for North America.

Porsche Cars North America President and CEO Kjell Gruner underscored the deep passion for driving a Porsche that runs in the United States. “There is something special about hitting the road in an open-top 911 with a manual transmission that fits perfectly here,” Gruner shared. Looking back on 70 years since the 356 America Roadster and 30 years since the 964 America Roadster, this is the perfect time to add another ‘America’ model to the story.

With a very limited number to be produced, this convertible sports car will be one of the rarest Type-992 models ever released by Porsche.

High-Performance

Based on the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, the America Edition boasts of similar high-performance chassis and powertrain, and is exclusively available with a seven-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive.

Using a twin-turbocharged 3-liter flat-6 engine, the new 911 is tuned to generate an impressive 353 kW and 570 Nm of torque. The Porsche Active Suspension Management Sport which comes standard lowers the ride height by 10 millimeters and adds helper springs to the rear axle. Also coming in as standard fitment are the Sport Exhaust and the Sport Chrono Package. Options include the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) and Rear-axle steering.

Striking Appearance

Unique cosmetic changes applied by the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur make the new 911 striking up close and from a distance.

Its red, white and blue coloring spell out class. Taking inspiration from the 1953 356 America Roadster, Azure Blue takes stage as the primary exterior color. Despite similarities, the America Edition features enhancements that set it apart from its siblings. The convertible top is in black, and the windshield surround is in Satin Black—this model is the first Type-992 to receive this treatment. Along the doors, white decals with Guards Red accents read “America” while the model designation on the rear decklid features “911 Carrera” in white and “GTS” in Guards Red. Another unique touch from the automaker are white wheels with a Guards Red pinstripe.

The interior looks elegant with black as the primary color, highlighting unique Guards Red and Pebble Gray two-tone stitching accents in the upper dashboard, center console armrest with embossed “America” on the leather, and door panels.

One-of-a-kind illuminated door sill treadplates with commemorative wording further make the interior extra special. When you choose an optional extended interior package, the color theme continues on the steering wheel, seats, and gear stick. To match the vehicle’s color, the key is also in Azure Blue.

The limited-edition Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America will arrive at US dealers in late 2022 as part of the 2023 model year. Don't miss the rare chance to own this commemorative gem.
