Porsche fans and car enthusiasts marvelled at the new 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS on its first in-person appearance at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, at Carmel Valley on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula in California. The Monterey Car Week was the perfect stage for the physical debut of the new high-performance sports car that was released online just days before.
The sleek show car was customized by GT Model Line and Style Porsche, as part of a U.S.-exclusive tribute to the Carrera RS Package that honors the 50th anniversary of the 1972 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7. It is an exciting addition to the RS lineage that already includes another iconic model, the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America Edition.
According to Kjell Gruner, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America Inc., “We want to create a special experience that combines exclusive options on the new GT3 RS with a one-of-a-kind list of accompanying items.”
A One-Of-A-Kind Tribute
With America being the second home of the 911, developing a limited-availability U.S.-exclusive offering is the perfect way to celebrate the RS lineage. This tribute also shows off the incredibly extensive personalization program that Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur can do. Customization is an integral part of a Porsche tradition—a commitment to make a car as much a reflection of the customer as it is of the company.
The model at The Quail is extensively personalized, finished with white and Python Green all over—a true tribute to one of the most iconic looks of the original 1972 Carrera RS 2.7.
It features forged aluminum wheels in Python Green with white pinstripes, as well as Exclusive Design rear lights and "RS" logos on both ends of the rear wing.
The ‘GT3 RS’ replaces the ‘Carrera’ script of the original on the side view in between the wheel arches while the color combination blends seamlessly into the interior as seen in the car’s matching stitching and trim panels.
The New Carrera
Fifty years ago, the 1972 911 Carrera RS 2.7 was once known as Germany’s fastest sports car. Today, the 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS continues that legacy in a more modern and technologically-advanced machine. Its 4.0-liter naturally aspirated boxer six-cylinder engine, motorsport-derived active aerodynamics, and a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission carries on the Carrera name of being a powerful, yet graceful automobile.
As the most extreme and capable 911 GT3 RS yet, the 2023 911 GT3 RS will surely take the definition of adventure to another level.
