In this fast-paced and growing world, technology is constantly evolving, and one has to evolve with it to keep up.

That’s exactly what Porsche is doing through a strategic collaboration with technology company Mobileye. Together, they aim to give future Porsche models automated assistance and navigate-on-pilot functions based on the Mobileye SuperVisionTM technology platform.

What is Mobileye SuperVisionTM?

Mobile SuperVisionTM is among the world's most advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). With it, you can remove your hands from the steering wheel on various road types while you look at your surroundings (depending on local laws and traffic situations, of course.)

With eleven cameras and supporting radar fusion perception, the system will be able to monitor your environment. The car will follow your chosen navigation routes, automatically overtake slower vehicles, and change lanes.

More than that, the system will include a slew of components like high-resolution maps (Road Experience Management) and Mobileye EyeQ®6 High Systems-on-a-Chip (SoC). It’s composed of a highly efficient assemblage of hardware and software that uses artificial intelligence to perform the driver assistance functions.

The Dream Team

Both Porsche and Mobileye are leading names in their respective fields. In the car world, Porsche is one of the most prominent brands. In the tech world, Mobileye is one of the most sought-after names for tech solutions. Their collaboration aims not just to keep up with the times but to bring the people new and improved vehicles.

In Porsche's announcement post, Mobileye President and CEO, Prof. Amnon Shashua, says they are “delighted to work together with Porsche to bring the next generation of driving technology to customers around the world.”

Porsche will take the lead in this project of integrating Mobileye SuperVisionTM into their future models to make sure the driving experience is brand-worthy. Their engineers will integrate and tune the systems. Additionally, the car company’s in-house specialists will customize the system that will monitor the driver’s attention, as well as its integration into the intuitive user interface of the Porsche Communication Management system.

What Does the Future Hold?

The collaboration was just announced and the integration is still in development. But looking at the track record of both companies, their future looks promising. Everyone will be keeping an eye on this exciting collaboration.
