Whether you intend to traverse off-road landscapes or big cities, you are bound to enjoy limitless adventures with the new Porsche 911 Dakar. Boasting of unmatched style, aesthetic, and performance, it is an impressive model that was created to celebrate Porsche’s first overall victory in the grueling 1984 Dakar rally, and as a nod to the birth of all-wheel drive in the Porsche 911.

Behold, it checks all of the qualities of a great off-roading sports car.

Striking Features

Imposing a classic look, the 911 Dakar has a carbon fiber reinforced plastic roof which has been taken from the GT3, stainless steel mesh grilles on the front fascia to prevent damages from rock strikes, and red-painted forged aluminum tow hooks in the front and rear.

With a raised ride height, all-terrain tires, fender flares, and an optional roof basket, this sports car clearly spells out adventure.

One of its notable modifications is the ride height which sits 50 mm higher than the normal 911 Carrera. Onboard, there’s also a lift system that can elevate the suspension by another 30 mm—making the vehicle more adept in crossing obstacles as it incorporates longer links to somewhat increase track width.

Measuring 245/45 ZR 19 in front, and 295/40 ZR 20 at the rear, the vehicle’s new Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus model tires have been specifically designed. It features a 9 mm tread depth for optimal traction in low-grip situations. Pirelli snow and summer tires are also available as options, with model-specific side skirts and fender flares.

Unmatched Interior

Sporting ambitions exude in the Dakar’s interior.

Drivers are welcomed with the GT sports steering wheel, covered with non-slip Race-Tex. There are also PDK shift paddles and a mode switch for selecting driving modes. The highlights come with a shade of green and decorative inlays in brushed Black aluminum.

Fixed-back bucket seats come standard, and rear seats have been omitted. To further cut weight, Porsche incorporated a lightweight battery and lightweight glass.

When you choose the optional Rallye Sport Package, you get six-point seat belts, a roll-over bar, and fire extinguisher.

Speed and Performance

Two new drive modes, the Off-Road Mode and Rallye Mode have been added to maximize traction in rough terrain, and to assist in driving through loose surfaces, respectively—making the Dakar unquestionably commanding in terms of off-road performance.

Powered by a three-liter bi-turbo six-cylinder, the 911 Dakar produces an impressive 473 horsepower and 420 pound feet of torque. An eight-speed PDK sends power to its wheels.

Not to mention, there’s a new rally-specific launch control that allows up to 20% wheelspin, perfect for loose-surface launches. The sports car delivers a top speed of 240 km/h due to the all-terrain tires, and can sprint to 100 km/h in only 3.4 seconds.

Styling That Hails to an Iconic Winning Car

The optional Rallye Design Package echoes the 1984 Paris-Dakar winning vehicle, with rally stripes in red and gold, a two-tone paint finish in White/Gentian Blue Metallic and the “Roughroads” lettering on the doors. This word is a registered trademark that reflects the concept of the 911 Dakar, and its fitness for off-road driving. White-painted rims and the red taillight strip round off a distinctive appearance.

For personalization, a customer can choose a race number between 0 and 999 to be placed on the side of the vehicle. You can also select the optional roof basket or roof tent, and the exclusive Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – 911 Dakar or the Chronograph 1 ? 911 Dakar Rallye Design Edition to match your vehicle. The housing is made of light titanium carbide, and is scratch-resistant.
