In a remarkable collaboration, Vitra, the renowned Swiss designer furniture maker, and Porsche, the legendary sports car manufacturer, unveil a limited-edition collection of iconic chairs adorned with Porsche’s original Pepita fabric. This exclusive range, known as the Porsche Pepita Edition by Vitra, will debut at Milan's "The Art of Dreams" event, held at Palazzo Clerici from April 16 to 21, 2024.

Both Vitra and Porsche are celebrated for their dedication to exceptional design and craftsmanship, a synergy that dates back to pivotal moments in their histories. In 1948, Charles and Ray Eames introduced their groundbreaking armrest chair, revolutionizing furniture design, while Ferry Porsche realized his dream with the Porsche 356 ‘No. 1’ Roadster. This shared legacy of innovation and design excellence continues with the Porsche Pepita Edition by Vitra.

The collection features three iconic chairs: the ‘Eames Plastic Side Chair Pepita Edition,’ the ‘ID Trim L Pepita Edition,’ and the ‘Petit Repos Pepita Edition.’ Each chair is upholstered in Porsche’s timeless Pepita fabric, a distinctive houndstooth pattern first seen in the Porsche 911 in 1965. This fabric, a symbol of Porsche’s design heritage, was most recently featured in the 2022 911 Sport Classic.

Robert Ader, Chief Marketing Officer at Porsche AG, describes the collaboration as a "symbiosis of the DNA of our companies: iconic design paired with excellent craftsmanship and compelling function." This sentiment is vividly captured in the Pepita pattern, which lends a striking appearance to the chairs, suitable for both living rooms and offices.

At the Milan event, visitors can explore these exquisite chairs within the broader context of "The Art of Dreams" exhibition, which emphasizes themes of geometry, symmetry, rhythm, and repetition. The interactive Lines of Flight sculpture by the collective Numen/For Use will further enhance the experience, drawing inspiration from the Pepita pattern.

The Eames Plastic Side Chair Pepita Edition combines comfort and elegance with its white shell and black maple wood base. The ID Trim L Pepita Edition office chair features adjustable lumbar support and a historic Porsche crest, and the Petit Repos Pepita Edition armchair, which offers luxurious comfort and intricate double stitching, is the rarest at just 99 units.

This collaboration between Vitra and Porsche not only celebrates their shared heritage but also underscores their commitment to timeless design and superior craftsmanship. Don’t miss the chance to own a piece of this extraordinary fusion of automotive and furniture design history.
