Porsche has just dropped an exciting answer to help you conquer the track—the 2022 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. This turn-key race car is ready to take you to the most exhilarating races you have never experienced yet.

Impeccable Driveability, Power, and Speed

The mid-engine track star was designed and built based on its sibling, the all-new 718 Cayman GT4 RS road car, which was unveiled by Porsche early last month. Comparatively, the Clubsport version is harder, lighter, faster, and even more stripped back.

Its power is derived from a 4.0 liter six-cylinder boxer engine. Thanks to this high-revving powerplant sourced from the 911 GT3 Cup race car, and an optimized air intake, a sweeping 500 horsepower at a spine tingling 8300 rpm, and 343 lb.-ft. of torque at 6000 rpm can be delivered.

Other improvements contributing to the overall performance include the standard 7-speed dual-clutch transmission fitted to the car that now uses all seven forward gears.

Further proving its dominance, it boasts of faster lap times that are over two percent swifter than the previous model. The chassis have also been modified to improve the handling, and the damper technology was revised from ground up to attain further improvement in body control, and optimize the vehicle’s responsiveness. Not to mention, two-way adjustable shock absorbers with enhanced characteristics, and adjustable sword-type anti-roll bars in the front and rear contribute to the achievement of heightened levels of performance and handling.

These outstanding features work together for a much wider usable speed band—making driving much easier for both amateurs and pro-racers.

Exceptional Aerodynamics
Even in fast, sharp curves, you can be assured of the RS Clubsport’s precise and controllable handling, thanks to excellent aerodynamics.

Dive planes in the front, and an extended front spoiler lip help intensify downforce at the front axle. Air turbulence around the front wheels is managed by air curtains, and wheel arch vents in the wings. Its fully enclosed underbody optimizes air flow to the diffusor at the rear, and the swan neck rear wing has been extended in range, and has been given a 20-millimeter-long Gurney flap to increase traction.

Sustainable Materials

The 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport’s predecessor was the first ever series production race car that featured body parts made of renewable natural-fiber composite material in lieu of carbon fiber components. In the new GT4 RS Clubsport, this material has been used even more extensively. The steering wheel, and the aerodynamic components located at the front end are now made of this material—in addition to the doors, wings, rear wing, and bonnet.

Ready for Racing

From its fore and aft adjustable Recaro racing seat, welded-in roll cage, new safety foam on the driver’s side that meets the SRO racing series’ international requirements, to its 2023 compliant six-point racing safety harnesses, fire extinguisher system, built-in air jack system with three jacks and safety nets, the 2022 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport is, without a doubt, track-ready.

Additionally, the 2022 Clubsport’s FT3 safety fuel cell is very suitable for endurance racing, with its capacity to take up to 115 liters of fuel. Planning to participate at tracks with stricter noise restrictions? Not a problem. Porsche offers two different exhaust systems to suit requirements. The vehicle is also perfect for nighttime endurance racing. It has openings in the bonnet for fast refueling, and is prepared for the addition of homologated headlights.

Without further modifications, it is well-equipped to meet all the prerequisites of racing events, and can now be used in SRO racing series around the world.

In 2016, Porsche started offering the Cayman GT4 Clubsport of the 981 generation. The 718 Cayman GT4 became the model of the next generation GT4 Clubsport which debuted in 2019. Its huge success is attributed to the usage of well-proven series production technology that is combined with racing-specific segments, which significantly lowers the costs for customers.

The release of this track-star is a strong testament to Porsche’s mission of continuous improvements. Acting on the feedback of loyal customers and enthusiasts, the German automaker crafted the new 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport to be more capable than ever. “It's quicker, even more rewarding and confidence-inspiring to drive–exactly what drivers competing in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and SRO series need to be successful," President and CEO of Porsche Motorsport North America Volker Holzmeyer said.
